Nancy Oyer

Trained classically, Nancy has been playing flute since 1973. After winning a blue ribbon from the New York State School Music Association, Nancy moved to Sweden and played folk music professionally. She currently plays jazz with Platinum Street in Butte, and lists collaborations with musicians in Israel among her favorite new projects.


Sonia Chessin

Classically trained, Sonia’s studies in flute began at age 10 with Lorraine Andre. Sonia’s experience ranges from orchestral to improvisational and her repertoire covers a wide spectrum of music genres, including rock, blues, and Irish music. Sonia can be seen playing in Missoula with Flamenco Montana as well as with the Klezmer band Chutzpah. In addition, Sonia plays for clients at an alcohol and drug treatment program in the Anaconda area.

Dave Coleman

Dave Coleman began piano lessons at age 5 in Portland, Oregon. By age 17, he was touring professionally in the northwest U.S. In the Navy, Dave performed solo, in shipboard bands, and as the chapel organist at venues throughout the world. In addition to his solo piano bar act in Butte, Dave has played jazz, blues, rock and roll, country, and gospel in Jamboni, the Butte Symphony, Platinum Street, and the Butte Big Band. Dave was the musical director of United Congregational Church, assisted the music program at the Orphan Girl Theater, and currently plays piano, bass and guitar for clients at an alcohol and drug treatment program in the Anaconda area.

David Small

Classically trained at Metropolitan State College of Denver and schooled in jazz at Colorado University of Denver, David has been performing, singing, and recording in a variety of musical styles professionally since 1980 in Colorado and Montana. David performs regularly as a solo artist and studio musician on guitar, mandolin, cedar flute, and bass guitar. He can be seen in Helena performing classical guitar and mandolin with the Dynamic Duet and Montana Guitar Ensemble; jazz, blues, and original music with the Unusual Suspects; and classic rock and contemporary country with Vanilla Gorilla.

Kathy Hiebert

Kathy’s interest in classical guitar began at age 10. As a teenager, she attended summer music camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. She studied with several accomplished guitarists, including Stuart Weber from Bozeman, David Brandon from Lubbock (Texas), and was a returning performing student at Christopher Parkening’s Master Class in Bozeman. Since 2005, Kathy has been a classical guitar teacher in the Adult Education program in Butte, and in 2016, she also became a guitar teacher for the Butte Young Musicians program.
